Head of People at BIG

We are a company experiencing steady growth, and as we grow we also strive to mature. We have over the past 15 years developed from a 10 to a 650 people organization with offices in New York, London, Barcelona, Shenzhen and Copenhagen. The position as Head of People in our Copenhagen office has recently become vacant and we are now looking to fill this position.  As Head of People, you will report to our Managing Director and become the head of our Copenhagen based People team.

You will act as the People Team responsible in the Copenhagen office (comprising of 320 employees) and you will be overseeing and taking part in all day-to-day People related tasks from recruitment, management of existing employee contracts and all employee related matters such as immigration, developing and maintaining organizational standards, wellbeing, reporting of People data to the Managing Director etc.

Overall, you will experience a great degree of independence in a flexible and dynamic environment and the role will offer great exposure to all People disciplines – which by the way we are expanding upon as we grow. Primary areas of responsibility

As Head of People, you and the current People team consisting of two full time employees and a student aid, will be overall responsible for all employee related matters in the Copenhagen office and throughout the entire employee life cycle. This includes (but is not limited to):

  • Leadership and management of the team ensuring each team member is aware of their priorities, focus and responsibilities and that the team functions daily
  • Be a representative of BIG values and ambitions
  • Act as the chief liaison to IT and other departments in regard to HR software system requirements
  • Implement and manage regular feedback loops for our staff
  • Manage department budget and annual planning of duties and new initiatives as well as resource planning
  • Ensure compliance with external regulations and union agreements
  • Interact with Partners, Managing Director and other senior staff in all employee related matters
  • Support Finance team with salary, leave and pension related matters
  • Support in the development and hosting of leadership training modules with management teams
  • Oversee development of initiatives for all staff members, using workshops and set up employee funds standards
  • Execute our annual wheel activities including e.g., It is a plus to have familiarity with the Architect union agreement in Denmark or similar union agreements salary regulation process, performance calibration, development feedback
  • Work on implementing new initiatives in the Copenhagen office
  • Promote collaboration with other departments in BIG and across our offices and bridge opportunities to develop processes and efficiencies in our global organization
  • Act as sparring Partner to our offices in Barcelona and Shenzhen.

The ideal candidate:

  • Holds a Master within a relevant field
  • Has minimum five years of experience working with operational HR in larger and/or creative organizations
  • Has previously worked with global HRIS or similar HR IT systems
  • Enjoys a busy and creative environment with many nationalities
  • It is a plus to have familiarity with the Architect union agreement in Denmark or similar union agreements
  • Is structured and has excellent time management skills
  • Is comfortable with fast-paced decisions and rapidly changing environments
  • Has good communication skills and is fluent in English and Danish.
